CHURCH LIFE

MAINLY MUSIC PLAYGROUP

We at St John’s have a commitment to the nurturing and support of families. With this in mind, we offer a weekly playgroup program for toddlers and their parents/grandparents/carers called “MAINLY MUSIC”. This is a program of Christian based music and actions for parents interacting with their small children from babies up to about 3 and a half. It involves a 30 minute mixture of music, movement, rhymes and action. This is followed by morning tea, which is provided by St John’s, a time of play for the children and a time of fellowship for all. Our program is held on Friday mornings and the cost is $4 per family per session. For more information, contact Jill Crane on (07) 4124 5652.

MESSY CHURCH

Messy Church is an international way of church for families of all ages involving fun, creativity, celebration and hospitality. Our Messy Church is held on the 4th Sunday of the month from 4pm—6pm and finishes with a light supper.

OP SHOP

Our Anglican Op Shop is at 5 Peters Lane, Pialba. Opening hours are 9am-3pm Monday to Friday. The shop is totally run by volunteers with all clothing and accessories, books, household items, toys, bric-a-brac and craft items sold from donations. Funds raised go to Church projects and local charities.

MOTHERS' UNION

Mothers Union promotes and supports married life, supports the sick, encourages parents to develop the faith of their children and maintains worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service. Mothers’ Union runs services and quiet days to aid member’s spiritual growth. For more information, contact the Parish Office on (07) 4124 1499.

BLOKES BREAKFAST

Every second Saturday, men from the parish gather at 7am for a hearty barbecue breakfast at the Parish Hall. This provides an ideal opportunity to get to know one another better in a social atmosphere and to take part in a short Bible Study. Adult men of all ages are welcome.

WOMEN'S BREAKFAST

These events are held four times a year on Saturday mornings at a range of cafe venues around Hervey Bay. Guest speakers are invited to address the gathering, generally on subjects of particular interest to Christian women of all ages.

The breakfasts provide the perfect opportunity to meet socially while learning valuable information on a host of stimulating subjects.

THE GUILD

The Guild is a fellowship, outreach and fundraising part of the church family and new members are always welcome. Our funds raised assist our World Vision child, Bible Society, Christian Blind, Lift Flight, Flood and Drought relief and others. For more information, contact the Parish Office on (07) 4124 1499.

CURSILLO

CURSILLO (a Spanish for Short Course) is a worldwide movement within many Christian churches. Cursillo is a method that helps us to consciously live in God’s grace and to bring into our daily lives, the feeling of community we can share as Christians. A 3 day Cursillo weekend is the way to join the movement, and these are held annually.
